The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Canada is thrilled to announce that actress, producer, and writer Kim Cattrall will receive the prestigious ICON Award at this year’s inaugural Canadian event in Toronto on May 30.

Being awarded for the first time, The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Canada ICON Award was created to recognize Canada’s cultural icons who have advanced the representation of women in the entertainment industry, and whose artistic vision and excellence has inspired audiences at home and around the world.

Kim Cattrall is an award-winning actress, producer and writer whose profound career has spanned film, stage, television and books. Cattrall starred in and served as executive producer of HBO Canada’s Sensitive Skin, which was nominated for six Canadian Screen Awards and an International Emmy Award. She was also seen on the Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father; the Liosngate Film About My Father with Robert DeNiro and the Netflix series Glamorous, which she also produced.

Cattrall is known for her empowering role as “Samantha Jones” in Sex and the City, for which she received five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the 2002 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.

Cattrall is also the author of several best-selling books focused on the well-being of women, including Being a Girl: Navigating the Ups and Downs of Teen Life and Sexual Intelligence.
